Purpose Statement:
Common
misconceptions about digestive diseases can be dangerous if they
keep a person from correctly preventing or treating an illness. Researchers
have only recently begun to understand the many, often complex,
diseases that affect the digestive system. Accordingly, people are
gradually replacing folklore, old wives' tales, and rumors about the
causes and treatments of digestive diseases with accurate,
up-to-date information. But misunderstandings still exist, and,
while some folklore is harmless, some can be dangerous if it keeps a
person from correctly preventing or treating an illness.
As
acuity levels of patients continue to rise, today’s healthcare
provider is confronted with patients with life threatening
complications with more and more frequency. This educational
activity will challenge the attendee’s critical thinking skills as
various complex patient situations are covered through comprehensive
lectures and case studies. As nurses are the constant force at the
bedside, physician’s office and clinics, it is imperative they
understand the pathophysiology of these complications, have the
ability to able to respond appropriately.
This program is designed for primary
care nurses, nurse practitioners, and learners will gain an
understanding of the disorders of the gastro-intestinal tract, the
complications associated with these, and assist their patient’s in
their ability to manage their diseases.

Turn your dream vacation into reality
aboard the new Carnival Triumph, one of the largest
cruise ships in the world. She is a towering nine decks,
and is filled with elegant dining rooms and glass domed
lounges, all with panoramic views of the ocean. If your
idea of fun is relaxing by the pool, we've created the
most spectacular tiered outdoor entertainment area
afloat. Spanning four decks, it features four pools,
seven whirlpools, two swim-up bars and even a 200-foot
spiral waterslide. Or, for a more active vacation, check
out our Nautica Spa, the most extensive spa facilities
at sea.
The Carnival Triumph’s
Great Cities of the World theme is truly fitting for
such a great ship. Relax with a drink in the Capitol –
a nine-story atrium, before exploring the ship’s
outdoor areas. Enjoy your time lounging by the four
pools, streaking down the waterslide, kicking back by
the shaded bars and taking in the outdoor entertainment.
After dining in one of the many casual or formal
restaurants, you can catch a Las Vegas-style show, try
your luck in the casino or sing along at the Big Easy
